GOOGLE REVIEWS FOR PRIVATE VOICE THERAPY WITH THE SPEECH NETWORK TEAM
*****
These voice sessions with Janet were life changing. I had hit a crossroads where teaching full time on zoom gave me such vocal strain I could not speak. Now I am back to teaching, albeit with a little lighter schedule, and have a new way to work with my voice that is healthy and working! - Sarah.

‘I worked with Janet following post-surgery voice damage and subsequent vocal difficulties. She is great, with a kind, empathetic and friendly approach. I really appreciated the understanding she gave me about how my vocal cords (should) work, and how to manage symptoms and look after my voice, improving my confidence along the way. I very much enjoyed our sessions and would highly recommend her’ Phillipa

‘Katy was an amazing voice therapist. She provided me with good resources to support my voice therapy and had good contacts to support the underlying issues. My voice has fully recovered after suffering with Muscle Tension Dysphonia, thanks to her support’ - Fleur

‘I had a great experience with my speech therapist Katy who really got to the bottom of my issue, rebuilding my voice and my confidence. After getting to the stage where I was often struggling to speak I'm now back singing regularly and still using the approaches she taught me to keep my voice in good shape. I wasn't sure how speech therapy would work and was a bit daunted by the idea of looking for help but Katy gave me exactly the support I needed. A fantastic service.’ Tom
What is Voice Therapy?
Voice Therapy is a specialised treatment designed to address voice disorders (dysphonia). Our expert private speech and language therapists offer this service across the UK.
Voice disorders can cause noticeable changes in how your voice sounds — it may become hoarse, weak, breathy, or strained. These voice changes may be due to such disorders as Muscle Tension Dysphonia, Vocal Fold Paralysis and Vocal nodules. These are assessment by an Ear Nose and Throat consultant using endoscopy. This is not a painful procedure. Voice disorders often have multiple contributing factors.
Private Voice Therapy focuses on identifying and treating the underlying causes, which may include:
Inefficient or harmful vocal techniques
Compensatory habits developed to protect the voice
Tension in the larynx
Poor vocal hygiene or inadequate vocal care
Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR)
Voice Therapy is the recommended treatment for dysphonia and aims to restore healthy, efficient voice use.
What happens in a Voice Therapy session?
The type of voice therapy recommended depends on your diagnosis and individual needs. Our UK-based Voice Therapists offer a range of personalised therapies designed to improve voice quality, stamina, and overall vocal health.
We offer a range of therapies including:
Improving Voice Projection and resonance
Reducing harmful vocal behaviours through bespoke vocal exercises
Reducing muscle tension through relaxation and semi-occluded vocal tract exercises.
Increasing vocal stamina so you do not lose your voice towards the end of the day
Reducing Laryngo-pharyngeal reflux (LPR) that can impact vocal health
Principles of Lee Silverman LOUD (LSVT)® and Speak out! ® techniques for structured, evidence-based improvement
Biofeedback through audio, video, sound meters and computer software to enhance awareness of your voice.
Vocal Functional Exercises to strengthen and balance your voice
How long does voice therapy take to improve my voice?
Most people require 4-6 sessions that they typically book weekly. It is very important that you follow the advice and complete the exercises given by the voice therapist outside of sessions to assist in your voice recovery..
Can I do Voice Therapy at home?
Yes! Online voice therapy allows you to receive expert guidance from the comfort of your home. Research shows that online voice therapy is as effective as face-to-face therapy, providing a convenient and accessible option for clients across the UK.
With online sessions, you no longer need to search for your nearest voice therapist—you can get professional support wherever you are.
Could my job or lifestyle be causing my voice issues?
People that use their voices a lot are called 'occupational voice users’. These may to be teachers, fitness coaches, actors and singers. Voice loss can be due to insufficient vocal techniques. Our Voice therapists are also vocal coaches that can prevent you from losing your voice by improving your technique. Nathan, our Vocal Coach works with singers to prevent voice loss and improve stamina.
Is private voice therapy faster than NHS therapy?
Unfortunately, the wait for NHS voice therapy may be substantial, typically months after seeing ENT. With our UK private voice therapy team you can typically be seen with a week of the initial consultation. For many people — especially teachers, singers, or professionals who rely on their voice — the quicker access to private voice therapy can make a huge difference. Early treatment often prevents further strain and supports faster recovery.
Do you have a waiting list?
No - therapy can typically begin within one week of the initial consultation.
I don’t like the sound of my voice - can I change it?
We have clients that feel their voice is too high or low, too quiet or loud, or they just don’t like the sound of their voice. This can have a big impact on a person’s identity and confidence.
We work with you to find your true voice and support you to use it every day. Click here to find out more about Voice Coaching.
